Concert

Just 17 days after wrapping a successful tour across Spain and other European countries, Camilo took his highly anticipated Mis Manos Tour to Miami on Wednesday night (Oct. 20).

Lines wrapped around The Fillmore Miami Beach as early as 7 p.m., with excited fans waiting to catch their favorite artist in concert. But first, the venue assured everyone’s safety, checking if every guest had either their vaccination card or a negative COVID test for their entry. At the VIP lounge, media and industry leaders were greeted with facemasks with Camilo’s signature mustache imprinted on them and cocktails inspired by some of his biggest hits.

At 9:08 p.m., an intro video played for the sold-out venue, where Camilo sent a message to the nearly 3,000 people in the crowd. “I dreamt of being here, looking at your face. If you’re here, it’s because you’re not alone. You’re part of the tribu,” he said in the video. He then hopped onstage, barefoot in an all-beige jumper, singing the first track of the night, “Favorito.”

Onstage, Camilo’s simplicity shined: he was joined by a four-member band, his music videos played on a large projector, a round rug was plopped on the stage, and two neon lights were positioned in the shape of his “tribu” triangle logo. “Tribu,” or tribe, is the name he has blessed his fandom with. The atmosphere was pure and feel-good in a packed audience of all ages, from children to millennials to an older crowd.

“Welcome to my first show in Miami,” the Colombian pop star, who leads the 2021 Latin Grammys with 10 nominations, said after performing “Tutu” and “No Te Vayas.” “I’m opening my U.S. tour here. Today is real proof that dreams do come true.”

Camilo performed 20 of his biggest records, from the melancholic “El Mismo Aire” to his Ozuna-assisted “Despeinada” to his bachata tune “Bebe.” At around 10:20 p.m., he wrapped up the first of three back-to-back shows in Miami with his cumbia-heavy “Vida de Rico.” “It’s because of those smiles and nights like these that I can say I have a rich life,” he said.

Below, check out more highlights from Camilo’s concert:

The Star of the Night

Collaborators such as Rauw Alejandro, Ozuna, Mau y Ricky and El Alfa didn’t attend Camilo’s show, but his wife, singer and actress Evaluna Montaner, was in the building. Together, the lovebirds performed their singles “Machu Picchu” and “Por Primera Vez,” and debuted their latest collaboration, “Indigo,” which they dedicated to their soon-to-be-born baby.

“She’s my favorite artist, and is the reason behind all my songs,” Camilo gushed. “This is the first concert we do without Evaluna having to hide her pregnant belly.”

A Supportive Family

But Evaluna was not the only family member in the room. In fact, Camilo’s loved ones filled two entire rows at The Fillmore, including his famed in-laws Ricardo Montaner and Marlene Rodríguez Miranda, who sang and danced the entire night.

“I came to Miami five years ago with a guitar and dreamed that one day my songs will have a space in your lives,” Camilo said. “My melodies began to meet those people and all those people who I met along the way are here tonight. My family filled this venue.”

La Tribu Effect

However, Camilo expressed multiple times during the night that his Mis Manos Tour was dedicated to his faithful Tribu. At one point, he stopped to acknowledge and read the fan-made posters, especially from his younger fans. One of them read, “Camilo, I’m Kamila, take me on stage to meet you.” In a heartbeat, Camilo called up the little girl, who said she was six years old and that it was the first concert of her life.

“I’m going to insert a memory in your head,” he told her. “I want you to remember that Camilo told you that whatever you are dreaming about, you can achieve it. If you remember that, I will be able to say that it is the best concert of my life.”

And A Marriage Proposal

One of Camilo’s musicians was joined by his pregnant girlfriend onstage to dance to “Kesi.” Right when the song finished, he got on his knees and popped a ring out. The marriage proposal was simple and sweet, but one of the most emotional moments of the night. Camilo celebrated onstage with the rest of his band members. “Dijo, ‘kesi!’” he yelled.

Mis Manos Tour, presented by Loud And Live, will continue in major U.S. cities like Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and San Juan.
